My Book Style Card for my Daughter's Birthday

Well good afternoon all you lovely people. Well here along the North East Coast is very miserable today.....where has all the lovely weather gone...boo hoo!! Still at least the garden gets a good watering so I dont have to get the hose out.
Well today is my daughter's 18th Birthday....I cant believe my princess is 18...do you know doctors only said she would survive maybe 3 weeks at the most........YEAH WELL LOOK AT HER NOW, she is a woman!!!!! I wanted to make her a special card, 1 because she is my little girl(yeah I know she is 18 but she will always be my little girl) & 2 because its her 18th. There will be no drinking though as it would mix badly with her meds & not to mention her wheelchair!!
Over at PFP this week the challenge is 'Books'....as soon as I read this it thrilled me & started turning the cogs immediately......SO many idea's.......OMG which 1 should I do!! Well I decided to do 2 1 of which is not quite finished yet so you will have to wait a little longer for that one......but this 1 is the one I'm entering into the challenge!! The idea came to me......you wont believe this....but the idea came to me when I was sitting on the loo....yes thats right the throne gave me a good idea lmao...you would think I would be too embarassed to tell that but what the heck eh lol! Anyway I decided to make a little book card for Natalie like a Fairytale book for her 18th using 1 of my pre-made cards that I have in a box. Normally I make my own from the start with A4 card but these ready made cards I brought when I 1st started making cards so I thought I could use 1 as its got the right folds already & it saves them sitting in a box gathering dust lol. Actually I'm really pleased with how this turned out & the most important thing was the big smile on my daughter's face today when she saw it.........
I covered all the cards in my Basic Grey paper, 'Porcelain'.....I love this paper pad!! This is a 3 fold card & the front has a cut out part which I did not cover in paper instead I distressed it with my distress inks, I used Worn Lipstick, Tattered Rose & Vintage Photo.....I'm still quite new to distressing so I was even more pleased with the effect I got. I wanted to use my new Magnolia stamps so I decided to put 2 images on this, 1 on the front & 1 inside. The 1 on the front is longing Tilda & I put her on a magnolia window which I coloured with my trusty Promarkers, both tilda's were coloured with Promarkers....incase you were wondering lol. Below the window on the front I have put some flower soft along to make it look like it has 1 of those window boxes, I also used flower soft on parts of the swing on the inside & around the oval sentiments....I just thought it added a nice touch.
As I wanted a Fairytale Book theme I scoured the internet for a picture of a Fairytale book, I finally found 1 with the words 'Once Upon A Time' & the writing very faded...well this was perfect so I printed it out & got my Vintage Photo distress ink to work to make it look a little bit more aged. Now though I needed a book page for the other side but every time I printed 1 out I just wasn't happy with it.....so I decided to make my own because after all it was for my beautiful daughter, here it is
'Once Upon A Time in a magical land there lived a special little girl called Natalie, she had beautiful dark brown hair, green eyes that were surrounded by long dark eyelashes. She was truly beautiful. Then on June 6th 2010 it was her 18th Birthday & all her family wished her a Happy Birthday & spent the day with her pampering her. They all love her very VERY much & always will do happily ever after......
I thought it added the perfect personal touch for my little girl & I distress it again with Vintage Photo to age it. The oval sentiments were little quotes that I found on the WWW.... 1 reads 'Your smile beams like sunshine which fills our hearts with love' & the other 1 reads 'When we asked for a Daughter we were sent a Princess' .
The flowers & stickers are from my stash as are the pearls, also the bow. To keep it closed I attached round velcro pads & attached vintage style buttons to act as little handles(couldn't think how to explain them lol).
Anyway I hope you like what you see & I hope they like it over at PFP. I'm also entering this into a few other challenges including 4 that I've never entered into before.....WOW I'm getting brave lol.
Well I think I've bored you enough so until we meet again....bye-d-bye, take care folks & enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Hugs Vicky xx
